Mine isn’t regarding services but a response to selling an entire library of my father-in-law’s on O’ahu, Hawaii, a former Computer Science professor. The pattern is the same so I attach below along with my original ad. Thanks for your posting. Even we skeptics like to believe that someone would “buy” for a fair asking price, so now the scammer has my personal email address. Live and learn, Jamie

Thanks for the prompt response, I’m glad to hear from you and i will like to know that i found your ads on craigslist and was much more interested,i am buying the Entire Library for my son .i am located in Chelsea in MI.Also i will like to let you know that the payment will be a certified check so in view of this i will like you to email me all the necessary information needed to send the certified check to you. Regarding the shipping ,i have a personal shipper agent that takes good care of my consignments and ship them to there various destination .So my shipping agent will be at your place to do the pick up soon as the payment is received by you. The certified check will be in your name to make it easier for you to cash and as soon as you receive the certified check, i will like you to cash them then deduct the money and send the remaining balance to my shipping agent so he can contact you immediately for the pick up arrangement at your place.
So here are the information needed for the payment to be mail out asap.
(1) Full Name
(2) Mailing address, no p.o.box please
(3) your direct telephone number
(4)Final asking price
(5) acceptance of my offer

Hope to hear from you immediately.
NB:I will be paying you additional $45 to reserve the Entire Library for me.

It’s incredible to me what people will do to others for their own benefit. I also am always receiving automated phone calls telling me I’m a winner or a top customer to something I’ve never heard of. I’ve also fallen pray to E-bay scams too.

This is why I no longer use Craigslist. It used to be a venue to bypass shady products and services. It’s now so mainstream that there’s no difference.

I also received below email from one of my ads yesterday. I’m surprised that they’re still using the same email template after 2 years. I think the best way to fight this scam emails is to ignore them…
